Medicare will provide you with a rebate for certain mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, substance abuse and dependence problems, and Attention Deficit Disorder. There are a number of other problems that also allow a rebate. In order to claim the rebate you need to obtain a Mental Health Careplan (often referred to as an Item 2710) from your GP and bring the plan to your first session. You will then be entitled to up to 12 sessions per year, or in certain situations your GP can extend the rebate for a further six sessions (18 in total over the calendar year).
